Preparation

Print copies of the Letter to Parents for each student.
Assemble the optional reading and math practice packets for each student.
Ensure you have enough copies of all materials for the class.
Step-by-Step Instructions

Introduction

Greet students and briefly mention the upcoming Thanksgiving break. Explain that you have a special, optional packet for them to take home.

Introduce the Packet
10 min
Hold up a sample of the practice packet. Explain that it contains fun reading and math activities. Emphasize that it is not homework and is completely optional . Ask students for a thumbs up if they understand it's optional.

Distribute Materials
10 min
Distribute the practice packets and the Letter to Parents to each student. Remind them to give the letter to their parents and explain that the packet is just for extra fun practice if they want.

Q&A and Wrap-up
5 min
Ask if students have any questions. Reiterate the optional nature of the packet and wish them a happy Thanksgiving.
