Lesson Flow
1
The Hook: What is a Superpower? (10 mins)
Use the Hero Headquarters Slides to spark a discussion. Focus on the idea that superpowers aren't just flying or laser eyes—they are things we are good at in real life.
Discussion Prompt: "If a superhero's power is super-strength, what is the 'real life' version of that? Maybe it's being a great helper or never giving up when something is heavy or hard?"
2
The Secret Weapon: Self-Belief (5 mins)
Slide 3 introduces "Self-Belief." Emphasize that confidence doesn't mean being perfect; it means knowing you have value and the grit to keep trying.
Key Message: "Confidence is like a battery. We charge it by remembering the things we are proud of doing."
3
The Mission: Creation (25 mins)
Distribute the Hero Mission Sheets . Guide students through the three tasks:
Task 1: Encourage them to think of social skills, academic skills, or physical talents.
Task 2: Remind them that their "suit" should represent their powers (e.g., a "Kindness Cape" might be covered in hearts).
Task 3: Help students who struggle with writing to verbalize their credo first.
4
The Hero Gallery (10 mins)
Allow students to share their hero identity with a partner or the class. Focus on celebrating the variety of powers in the room.
Support & Extension
For Struggling Students
Provide a "Menu of Powers" list (e.g., Good Listener, Fast Runner, Great Sharer, Math Whiz) for students who can't think of their own strengths.
For Advanced Students
Challenge them to write a "Backstory" on the back of the sheet about a time they used one of their "Inner Superpowers" to solve a real problem.
