Lesson 1
Objective
Students will use a weather metaphor to identify emotions and understand that moods are temporary. They will identify "sunshine activities" that help shift their mood from negative to positive.
Key Vocabulary
Mood Metaphor Sunshine Activity Cloudy Feelings
Materials Needed
Mood Weather Slides
Weather Watchers Activity Sheet
Clear jar with water, blue food coloring, and yellow glitter/beads
Lesson Procedure
Step 1
The Hook (5 mins)
Ask: "Who knows what the weather is like outside today?" Take 2-3 answers. Then, ask: "Did you know that we have weather *inside* us too? Sometimes our hearts feel like a sunny beach, and sometimes they feel like a rainy cloud."
Step 2
Direct Instruction (10 mins)
Go through the Mood Weather Slides . Emphasize that weather *changes*. A rainy day doesn't stay rainy forever. Introduce "Sunshine Activities"—things we can choose to do to help the clouds move faster.
Step 3
The "Sunshine Drop" Demo (10 mins)
Show a jar of clear water. Add a drop of blue coloring (the "Cloudy Mood"). Talk about how the water changed. Then, ask for a student to suggest a "Sunshine Activity" (e.g., dancing). For every activity suggested, add a pinch of yellow glitter or a yellow bead. Explain that while the blue might still be there a little, the glitter makes it bright and shiny again!
Step 4
Creative Practice (15 mins)
Hand out the Weather Watchers Activity Sheet . Guide students to draw their current "internal weather" first, then draw a picture of themselves doing one "Sunshine Activity."
Teacher Tip
Kindergarteners may struggle with the abstract concept of "inside weather." Use facial expressions and body language to model each weather type (e.g., shrugging for cloudy, jumping for sunny).

Lesson 4
Purpose
This guide provides short, age-appropriate scripts to help Kindergarteners practice empathy and identify "Reset Tools" for others. Use these scripts during the Reset Heroes Slides or as independent role-play prompts.
Scenario The "Problem" Script Hero Question 1. The Drop "Oh no! My ice cream fell! It was my favorite strawberry flavor. Now I have nothing to eat and I'm so sad." "Leo's heart feels rainy. What 'Sunshine Activity' can we suggest?" 2. Lost Bear "I can't find Barnaby Bear! I checked my backpack and the cubby. I feel lonely without him." "Maya needs a 'Calm Tool'. Which one should she use while we look?" 3. Rainy Recess "Look at the clouds! It's raining hard. I wanted to swing on the playground. Now we're stuck inside." "The whole class is grumpy! What 'Active Tool' can we do together?" 4. The Puzzle "Gosh! These pieces don't fit! I've been trying forever and I just want to throw it! Hmph!" "Sam is frustrated. What 'Reset Action' can he take to feel calm?"
Role-Play Tips
Exaggerate : Use big facial expressions and body language (slumping, frowning, sighing).
Wait Time : Let students think about the toolbox reference poster before answering.
Choice : Remind them there is no single "right" tool—different things work for different people!
Discussion Prompts
"How can you tell that Leo's heart is feeling rainy?"
"Have you ever felt like Sam does with the puzzle?"
"Does doing a 'Reset' always make the problem go away? Or does it just help *us* feel better?"
