What is a Behavioral Baseline?
"A baseline is the typical behavior profile of an individual when they are at rest, calm, or in a neutral environment."
Unique: Every person's baseline is different.
Contextual: A baseline in a gym is different from a baseline in a library.
The Logic
Escalation is not a state; it is a deviation from the norm.
"You cannot know someone is 'acting weird' if you don't know how they act when they are 'normal'."
Observation Rule: Stay Objective
To document a baseline, we must use fact-based language.
Subjective (Avoid)

Subjective words rely on your opinion or feelings about the person.

03 Tempo Transition Activity (15 mins)
Have students tap on their desks to simulate the "tempo" of a relaxed person (slow, rhythmic). Then, announce a stressful change (e.g., "The principal just walked in to check your phone") and ask them to tap the new tempo.
