"First, we multiply by the 4 in the ones place. \(4 \times 6 = 24\). Can I write 24 in the ones column? No! Write the 4 down below, and carry the 2 into our carry circle above the tens. Now, multiply \(4 \times 2 = 8\). Add our carried 2: \(8 + 2 = 10\). Write 10! Now, cross out that carried 2 so we don't accidentally use it again!"
Part 2: Adding the Zero on Line 2:
"Before we multiply the 1, STOP! What place does that 1 live in? The TENS place! So what do we do first? Add a ZERO in the ones place! Now multiply: \(1 \times 6 = 6\), and \(1 \times 2 = 2\). Line 2 is 260!"
Part 3: Adding Aligned Columns:
"Look at our columns: Ones over ones (\(4 + 0 = 4\)), tens over tens (\(0 + 6 = 6\)), hundreds over hundreds (\(1 + 2 = 3\)). Our total is 364!"
