Your Mission
Pick ONE of the two projects below to show off everything you've learned this year. All projects must include: Transformations, Linear Equations, and Patterns & Sequences.
Path 1: The Graphic Designer
Poster Project
Design a professional brand logo or a geometric art piece using mathematical precision.
Transformations: Your design must use at least one translation, reflection, and rotation. Label these on your poster.
Linear Equations: At least 4 lines in your design must be defined by an equation in y = mx + b form.
Patterns & Sequences: Create a repeating visual pattern with your design elements. Identify the "common difference" or rule for your pattern.
Poster Layout: Organize your design elements with clean labels explaining the math behind your art.
Path 2: The Trend Tracker
Presentation
Find out how patterns in real-world scenarios change over time by tracking and comparing TWO different scenarios (e.g., comparing savings accounts, workout plans, or subscription growth).
Patterns & Sequences: Set up tables showing a clear numerical growth pattern over 5 steps for both scenarios.
Linear Equations: Write a y = mx + b equation for both scenarios. Explain and compare the slopes and y-intercepts of both options.
Transformations: Graph both patterns on the same coordinate plane. Describe the exact translation (slide) needed to shift Scenario 1 to match Scenario 2.
Visual Slides: Create comparative slides showing your side-by-side data and graph calculations.
We will be working on this all week in class. Be prepared to present your project during our final exam block on Monday, June 22nd
