Before you begin your project you must first gather all of your materials including the construction paper the glue the scissors and the markers and then once you have everything laid out on your desk you should fold the paper into four equal sections by folding it in half twice and then unfold it and label each section with a different season starting with spring in the top left corner and moving clockwise around the page until you reach winter.

The Cognitive Load Factor
Dense paragraphs of instructions are the primary cause of "Task Paralysis." When a student sees a block of text, their working memory attempts to process all steps simultaneously, leading to overflow. "Slicing" physically separates these steps, allowing the brain to focus on exactly one instruction at a time.

Identify the Wall (5 mins)
Present Slide 2 of the Instruction Slicer Slides. Ask students to describe how they feel when looking at that paragraph. Use words like "blurred," "scary," or "messy."

Model the Slice (10 mins)
Project the "Practice Run" text from the worksheet. Using a highlighter, demonstrate "The Slice." Draw a vertical line after every action-word or transition (e.g., "and then," "before you").
Rule: If you can do it with your hands, it's a step. If it has two actions, slice it in half.

The "Tag" System (10 mins)
Show Slide 4. Demonstrate how to number each sliced section. Explain that Step 2 cannot be started until Step 1 is "checked off" mentally or physically.

Common Pitfalls
The Run-on Step: Students include "Gather materials AND start the sketch" as one step. Remind them: "One action per number."
