Fold down the finger you multiply by 9. Left fingers are Tens, right are Ones!

The Magic Digits Sum to 9!
Tens Go Up ↑ | Ones Go Down ↓
Notice the twin patterns: As the Tens digit goes up (0, 1, 2, 3...), the Ones digit counts down (9, 8, 7, 6...). And both digits always add up to 9!

The Friendly 10s Strategy
Why it works: 9 is just 1 less than 10! So multiplying by 9 is the same as making 10 groups, then taking away 1 group!
