ALGEBRA CLASH SHOWDOWN

Mission: Team up with a partner to duel, solve, and coach! Use Rock-Paper-Scissors throws to claim challenge cards, earn Battle Points across five algebra categories, and verify each other's step-by-step math to victory.
Target Time 20–30 Minutes 8 to 10 Duel Rounds
How to Play: The 5-Step Turn Cycle

RPS Throw
Partners chant "Rock, Paper, Scissors, SHOOT!" and throw hands.

Pick Role
Winner becomes Solver and draws a card. Loser is Verifier .

Solve & Show
Solver writes equation on Scorecard and shows every inverse step clearly.

Verify Work
Verifier checks each algebraic step for accuracy before signing off.

Score & Swap
Award points. Switch priority next round so partners alternate turns.

Level 1: Simplify Expressions
Combine like terms and apply the distributive property to simplify algebraic expressions.
📄 Paper Deck 200 Pts
Level 2: Linear Equations
Solve equations by combining like terms on one side and collecting variables on both sides.
✂️ Scissors Deck 300 Pts
Level 3: Multi-Step & Special
Multi-step equations with distribution, plus recognizing No Solution or Infinitely Many .
✔ Verifier Steal & Coaching Protocol
If the Solver makes an algebraic mistake, the Verifier must not just give the answer. Use coaching prompts:
💬 "Check your signs: did you distribute the negative?"
💬 "Which inverse operation cancels that constant term?"
💬 "Combine like terms before moving variables across '='."
* Solver gets 1 retry after coaching. If still incorrect, Verifier may solve and steal half points !
★ Special Solutions Battle Alert
When solving equations where variable terms cancel out on both sides:
False Statement \( (0 = 7 \text{ or } -4 = 9) \)
Variables vanish & numbers are unequal → No Solution (\(\varnothing\))
True Identity \( (5 = 5 \text{ or } 0 = 0) \)
Both sides remain identical → Infinitely Many Solutions / All Reals
Tie-Breaker Rule: If players throw identical gestures, it is a Speed Duel ! Both players solve the top card simultaneously. First to finish with verified 100% correct work scores a 50 pt speed bonus!
