Core Objective: Students count on 1 more from an existing set, connect counting forward to addition (+ 1), and represent the relationship using 5-group drawings, number bonds, and number sentences.
Key Mathematical Concept
Adding 1 means advancing to the immediate next counting number . Instead of recounting from 1 ("counting all"), students name the existing quantity and "count on" by one: "6... 7!"
