Solution 1 (8 − 4) × (6 ÷ 1)? Or (6 ÷ 3) × (8 + 4) = 24
Solution 2 (8 × 3) + (6 − 4 − 2)? Or (4 × 8) − (6 + 2)?
Winning Path: (6 ÷ 3) × (8 + 4) = 2 × 12 = 24!

Master Chain: Order of Operations
PEMDAS showdown • Solve the multi-step chain
Final Championship
2 PTS EACH
Boss Problem 1 Apply PEMDAS
18 − 3 × 4 + 10
Step 1: Multiplication first (3 × 4 = 12) 18 − 12 + 10
Step 2: Left to right (18 − 12 = 6, 6 + 10) Ans: 16
Boss Problem 2 With Parentheses & Division
(25 − 5) ÷ 4 + 7 × 3
Step 1: Parentheses (25 − 5 = 20) 20 ÷ 4 + 7 × 3
Step 2: Div & Mult (5 + 21) Ans: 26
Common Pitfall: Multiplication does NOT always come before Division — solve left to right!

Three Flexible Play Formats
Format A: Pair Duel — "Flip & Solve"
High Energy / Pairs
Partners place the prompt card between them or watch the screen. Both solve simultaneously on their scorecard. The first student to stand or tap their marker and verbally justify their step earns the duel point. Switch who calls check on alternating rounds.
• Rule: If first player has an arithmetic error, the opponent steals the point!
Format B: Team Relay — "Operation Baton Pass"
Cooperative / 4-Player Teams
Teams of 4 line up single file at a tabletop station or whiteboard. Student 1 tackles problem A, caps the marker, and hands it back like a relay baton. Student 2 tackles problem B. Teammates may whisper hints but cannot write for each other.
• Rule: Perfect team round (all 4 correct) earns +2 team synergy bonus points.
Format C: Solo Sprint — "Personal Record Attack"
Individual / Low-Pressure
Students work quietly through each timed round on their scorecard. Each student tracks their individual accuracy rate and attempts to beat their personal record score from earlier games. Perfect for bellringers or stations.
• Rule: Students circle their fastest correct problem each round for self-reflection.
Middle School Differentiated Modifiers
Level-Up Challenges (Advanced)
- Integer Negatives: Introduce negative products (e.g., \((-7) \times 8 = -56\)).
- Target 24 Zero Rule: Players must use at least one division step in Target 24.
- Speed Halver: Cut round response time from 60 seconds to 40 seconds.
Scaffolding Support (Struggling)
- Multiplication Fact Matrix: Allow a printed 12×12 chart for division checks.
- Friendly Number Split: Encourage splitting 68 into \(60 + 8\) for subtractions.
