Display the "broken" problem: \( \frac{5}{6} - \frac{2}{6} = \frac{3}{0} \). Ask students to diagnose the problem. Why can't the denominator be zero? Why don't we subtract the "size of the pieces"?

Watch the video. Use the following pause points:

Denominator Subtraction
Students subtract the bottom numbers (e.g., \( \frac{4}{8} - \frac{1}{8} = \frac{3}{0} \)). Remind them the denominator is the "size" of the slice, and the slices don't change size during eating!
Incomplete Simplification
Students find the correct difference but stop before checking for common factors (e.g., leaving \( \frac{4}{10} \) instead of \( \frac{2}{5} \)).
