A comprehensive set of five standardized progress monitoring assessments targeting two-digit addition without regrouping within 50. Each assessment probe features ten problems paired with structured 0-50 number lines to track student computational fluency, strategy development, and mastery over time.
Student counts tick marks instead of spaces between ticks, landing on one more or one less than the true sum. Practice labeling hop increments (+1, +1) directly over each arc.
Tens Jump Inefficiency
Student makes 20+ individual unit hops instead of jumping by +10. Model decomposed jumps (e.g., for +14, make one leap of +10 to landmark, then 4 single hops of +1).
Directional / Place Confusion
Adding ones to tens place (e.g. 21 + 13 = 41). Prompt the student to point to the starting number first, then verbalize the tens and ones jump sequence before writing.
RTI / MTSS Intervention Decision Benchmarks
Based on a 10-problem standardized probe administration:
9–10 / 10 (90–100%) Mastery / Ready for Regrouping
7–8 / 10 (70–80%) Progressing / Maintain Tier 1
≤ 6 / 10 (≤ 60%) Intervention / Tier 2 Small Group
