Some children have intense anxiety about making an intentional "mistake." Scribble with your eyes closed on a sticky note to show them how fun it is, then let them transfer that energy to their worksheet.
Extension for fast finishers:
Have them draw small food items for their monsters in neat arrays of 5 or 10, then write a simple addition equation to show the total monster snacks (e.g., 5 + 5 = 10 snacks).

Misconception: Losing Track of 1:1 Correspondence
Second graders often count faster than their fingers can move. Guide them to physically move each item from an "Uncounted" pile to a "Counted" pile. It anchors their sensory system.
Inability to Transition Skip-Counts:
When counting leftovers in Station B, students might count by tens (10, 20, 30) but fail to transition to ones (31, 32, 33). Model this explicitly on the board before the rotations begin.
