Project Overview
This two-week independent research project transforms students into architectural apprentices. They will explore the geometric foundations of modern structures, from the precision of angles to the classification of complex polygons. Students progress from "Geometry Scouts" (field researchers) to "Master Architects" (blueprint designers).

Week One: The Geometry Scouts
Days 1-2: Training & Vocabulary
Review geometric terms. Introduce the project scope and distribute the "Scout Research Journal."
Days 3-5: Field Expedition
Students explore the school or local neighborhood to find and measure angles (acute, obtuse, right) in architecture and nature.

Week Two: The Master Architects
Days 6-7: Concept & Drafting
Students decide on their structure (e.g., modern library, sustainable home) and sketch initial layouts.
Days 8-9: Blueprint Finalization
Students create their final detailed blueprint, labeling angles, lines, and shapes according to requirements.
Day 10: Gallery Walk
Final presentation of blueprints and peer feedback session.
Pro-Tips for Success
Encourage Variety
While some students will stick to "box" buildings, challenge enrichment students to include non-traditional angles (like 135° or 45°) in their facades.
Additive Angles
In Week 2, require students to show "additive angle" math for roof pitches or entryway designs to hit 4.MD.C.7.
