The "Force Choice" Pivot

The "Sandwich" Method: Offer one non-preferred task and one "slightly less" non-preferred option (e.g., "Do 5 problems on paper OR do 5 on the whiteboard").

Visual Support: Always present the two choices visually (Choice Boards/PECS). This reduces the auditory processing load during high-stress moments.

The "Escape" Choice: Occasionally make one of the choices a "Safe Break" (e.g., "Finish 3 lines OR take a 2-minute timer break").

Complete once regulated. Use it as a restorative tool, not punishment. Help identify the "Body Feeling" missed before the flip occurred.
