Warm-Up (5 min)
Objective: Activate prior knowledge of comparison symbols.
- Draw the "alligator mouth" symbols on the board.
- Review the rules: The alligator is hungry and always wants to eat the larger number.
- Practice 2-3 quick comparisons on the board (e.g., 5 __ 3, 2 __ 8).

Video Viewing (10 min)
Objective: Connect physical mass to numerical value.
Watch the Measuring and Comparing Masses video. Use the provided slides to pause and discuss at these specific timestamps:
- 0:33 (1 vs 1): Ask, "Will it tip or stay straight?" After the result, write 1 = 1 on the board.
- 0:49 (2 vs 1): Ask, "Which side will go down?" Reinforce that heavier means DOWN. Write 2 > 1.
- 1:05 (2 vs 4): Predict the outcome. Write 2 < 4 on the board once the scale tips.

Main Activity: Math in Motion (15 min)
Objective: Independent practice translating visuals to symbols.
- Distribute the Balance Battle Worksheet.
- Students must count the blocks and write the correct symbol (\(<\), \(>\), \(=\)) in the circle.
- Circulate: Watch for students who confuse "down" with "less". Remind them: "The side that goes down is the winner—the bigger number!"
