Core Objective
Students will calculate the conditional probability of A given B by restricting the sample space to B and finding the fraction of B that is also in A.

Find the conditional probability of A given B as the fraction of B's outcomes that also belong to A.
Common Misconceptions
The Denominator Trap
Students often use the total population (e.g., 100 students) as the denominator instead of the conditioned group (e.g., just the 20 students in Band).
The Both/Either Mixup
Confusion between "A and B" (intersection) and "A or B" (union). Emphasize that for conditional probability, the numerator is always the intersection of the two sets.
Facilitation Script & Prompts
Q1:
"Look at the word 'Given.' What does that tell us about our world?"
Goal: Students identify that the world has "shrunk" to only include the given condition.
Q2:
"If we only look at the 'Band' circle, how many people are in our 'new' total?"
Goal: Discourage looking at numbers outside the specified circle.
Q3:
"Out of that band group, who also plays soccer? Where is that in our diagram?"
