Facilitation Philosophy
In this independent project model, the teacher shifts from "Lecturer" to "Supervisor." Your role is to provide the infrastructure, validate mathematical proofs, and ensure safety during the build phase.
The Independent Workflow
Firm Stand-Ups (First 5 mins)
Start each class with a quick firm meeting. Students check their Project Roadmap and identify their "Task of the Day."
Milestone Validations
Designate a "Validation Station" (your desk) where firms come to get their calculations signed off. Do not release build materials until Part II of the worksheet is verified.
Consultation Hours
Firms may request a "Technical Consultation" only after they have attempted the 3-B-4-Me Rule (Brain, Book, Buddy).
Progress Monitoring
Circulate the room with a clipboard. Focus on "Active Documentation"—are students recording their reasoning, or just numbers?
Management Milestones
Deadline Requirement Supervisor Action Day 3 Roof Pitch Proof Verify tangent calculation for at least one roof plane. Verify scale conversion consistency across walls. Group Dynamics
If a firm is falling behind, assign a Project Manager from a firm that has already cleared the Math Audit to serve as a "Consultant Architect" for 10 minutes.
High-Achievers
Challenge independent students to calculate the Material Cost Efficiency (Total Volume / Total Surface Area) to find the most "energy-efficient" design.
