Related Arts Class Splits Info
Please note that Mr. Sumner and Ms. Urrutia's classrooms are split up for related arts times among the four primary scheduled classes.
At this time, we are still finalizing exactly which students are assigned to each of the split groups. We will share your child's specific group assignment with you as soon as details are locked in!

The Sneaker Standard: Appropriate Footwear
For safety and performance, students must wear appropriate sneakers on designated gym days. Improper footwear can lead to slips, trips, ankle sprains, or damage to our floor.
Safety, Shoes & Grading Policy: Students without correct shoes will unfortunately sit out of activity for safety. Each missed participation results in a -5 point deduction from their PE participation grade each semester. Please note that students are not permitted to visit the school nurse to borrow shoes if they forget theirs. I am lenient at the very start of the year, but this will be strictly enforced by Weeks 3 and 4!
Correct Footwear
- • Athletic/running sneakers
- • Rubber-soled court shoes
- • Secure laces or strong Velcro straps
- • Flat-heeled, supportive design
DO NOT WEAR TO PE
- • Boots, high heels, or platforms
- • Sandals, flip-flops, or slides
- • Crocs (even in "sport mode")
- • Black-marking soles or mud
GYM Expectations
-
Be Safe: Move with spatial awareness, control body velocity, and handle tools safely. Keep your spatial bubble intact!
-
Be Respectful: Listen to Coach, use kind words, cheer on teammates, and give encouraging high-fives!
-
Be Responsible: Wear gym tennis shoes, clean up equipment on the timer buzzer, and own your actions.
The 3-Strike System
-
Strike 1
Warning & S.T.A.R.: Friendly reminder to pause, take a deep S.T.A.R. breath to refocus, and instantly adjust behavior.
-
Strike 2
Reset Station: Visual pit-stop at the reset table. Complete a grade-level reflection sheet, review with Coach, and rejoin.
-
Strike 3
Sit Out & parent notification: Students are removed from all active gameplay and sit out of activity. They will receive a sheet to go home to parents or a ParentSquare message.
