Unit Curriculum Guide
MICRO MOVES PE
High-Engagement PE for Tight Spaces & Zero Equipment
TARGET GRADES
K - 8 (Adaptable)
DURATION
3 Weeks / 15 Sessions
The "Micro PE" Philosophy
Physical Education doesn't require a gymnasium. Micro Moves turns space constraints (classroom aisles, hallways) into a gamified challenge. By prioritizing precision, rapid listening, and micro-movements, students develop body awareness and teamwork with absolute safety.
Core Objectives
- Build rapid reaction auditory cues
- Establish 100% safe self-boundaries
- Develop non-verbal group sync
3-Week Curriculum Matrix
15-Minute Daily Modules
| Week / Topic | Focus Skills | Daily Progressions (Days 1 - 5) |
|---|
| WEEK 1 Signal Masters | • Auditory Reaction | |
| • Static Boundaries | | |
| • Speed Control (1-5) | | |
| • Vertical Level Shifts | | |
| D1: Basecamp Setup. Define 3x3' zones. Master "Go/Freeze" signals. | | |
D2: Dial Control. Accelerate and decelerate smoothly (Speeds 1-5).
D3: Level Changers. React to visual height cues (Stand/Squat/Plank).
D4: Secret Signals. Replace vocal cues with subtle claps/finger clicks.
D5: Sentry Challenge. Test blind reactions and stationary balance holds.
|
| WEEK 2 Mirror Mechanics | • Partner Synchronicity
• Non-Verbal Follow
• Boundary Sharing
• Lead Transitions |
D6: Hand Follow. Mirror palm paths without physical touch at arm's length.
D7: Full Mirror. Mimic partner torso/limb slow-motion paths.
D8: Leader Handoff. Seamlessly swap who leads using eye blink-signals.
D9: Shadow Steps. Mimic partner walking-in-place steps from behind.
D10: Symmetry Showdown. Match peer speed escalations across aisles.
|
| WEEK 3 Grid Guardians | • Multi-Person Flow
• Collision Avoidance
• Pulse Passing
• Grid Trajectories |
D11: The Wave. Pass vertical arm transitions down aisle lines in order.
D12: Grid Shifts. Switch positions with neighbors using non-verbal eye cues.
D13: Pulse Matrix. Sync jumping-jack rhythms in diagonal patterns.
D14: Maze Walkers. Walk visual grid lines, pausing at path crossings.
D15: Synced Symphony. Run a 3-minute continuous non-verbal class routine.

Layout Blueprints
SPATIAL BLUEPRINTS & SAFETY
Arranging and managing students in highly restrictive classroom or hallway structures
No Gym Needed
3 High-Efficiency Setup Configurations
Configuration A
The Aisle Nodes
Best for standard rows of desks. Students step sideways or backwards into active standing spaces.
Desk
S1
Desk
S2
Desk
Desk
S3
Desk
S4
Desk
Students use personal "aisle pods" (S)
Configuration B
Hallway Zig-Zag
Perfect for narrow, long hallways. Staggers student positions along opposing walls to prevent overlaps.
S1
S3
S2
S4
Staggered placement ensures clearance
Configuration C
Perimeter Circle
Best for open classroom centers or small lobbies. Students face outward along a circular wall track.

S4
S2
S3
Safe Area
Facing outwards prevents direct collisions
Strict Spatial Safety Standards
In limited layouts, standard safety practices must be amplified. Establish these 4 baseline behaviors immediately.
1 The "Helicopter Test"
Before any drill, students extend arms outward at shoulder height and slowly rotate 360°. If any fingers touch a wall, desk, or peer, they must adjust their zone.
2 The "Invisible Shield" Rule
Every student maintains a 1.5-foot bubble in all directions. Intentionally popping a classmate's shield results in a "Yellow Card" (30-second active rest).
3 "Command Alpha"
A double-clap or single whistle command means freeze instantly like statues, suspending movement mid-pose regardless of balance.
4 Floor Anchor Principle
At least one foot must maintain direct physical contact with the floor at all times (no jumping) to avoid slips on polished tile floors.

Systems & Rubrics
GAMIFICATION & ASSESSMENT
Increasing intrinsic motivation and monitoring control without physical scores or timers
Level Up System
The "Micro Master" Badge Progression
Students level up by demonstrating motor inhibition and coordination. They track these daily.
Signal Sentry
Awarded for zero early-starts and flawless static freezes on audio signals for 3 consecutive days.
Level 1 Required
Mirror Monarch
Awarded for executing seamless non-verbal leadership handoffs and maintaining exact partner rhythm.
Level 2 Required
Grid Guardian
Awarded for zero grid collisions, quiet coordination, and leading collaborative wave pulses.
Level 3 Required
Spatial Control Mastery Rubric
| Criteria | Novice (1 pt) | Competent (2 pts) | Mastery (3 pts) |
|---|
| Self-Control | Brushes walls/furniture. Moves after halt signals. | Maintains 3x3' zone, but wobbles on stop cues. | Absolute spatial containment; immediate balanced freeze. |
| Signal Response | Starts early or relies heavily on peer cues. | Reacts directly to signals with minor lag. | Instant physical transition with zero anticipatory errors. |
| Collaboration | Noisy, tries to dominate, or breaks sync with partners. | Maintains pacing, verbalizes to coordinate. | Perfect non-verbal synchrony and effortless control. |
1-Minute Micro Warm-Ups (Select one daily)
1. Aisle Marches March in place lifting knees precisely 90°. Arms stay tucked close to the ribs.
2. Seated Rowers Sit upright at the edge of chairs. Extend arms forward and pull back rapidly, engaging core.
3. Limb-by-Limb Shake right arm (5s), left arm (5s), right leg (5s), left leg (5s). Repeat down to 1s.
