A comprehensive physical education sequence for Kindergarten focused on spatial awareness, gym routines, and safety. Through imaginative camping-themed play, students learn to define personal space, navigate shared forest environments safely, and respond to non-verbal signals.
Stay Calm: Keep voice low, steady, and respectful.
Redirect Privately: Avoid correcting in front of peers.

Universal Design & Routines
Focus Inclusion
Use these targeted strategies to modify the forest trail navigation, water breaks, and restroom visits for students with diverse physical, sensory, and behavioral needs.
Visual Supports
Water Line Markers: Place blue visual markers on the black gym line to show exactly where the 2 parallel water lines begin.
Step-by-step Visuals: Display bathroom picture icons (Raise hand -> Walk -> Wash hands -> Return) near the gym door.
Sensory Strategies
Quiet Restrooms: Accompany sensory-sensitive students to the restroom if the hand dryers or echoes cause anxiety.
Water Fountain Timing: Invite sensory-sensitive students to get water first or last to avoid the rush.
Motor & Physical Support
Cleared Fountain Access: Ensure pathways to water fountains are completely free of obstacles (cones/mats) for students with walking aids.
Alternative Water Bottles: Allow students with mobility challenges to keep a labeled bottle near their color spot.
Emotional Supports
Private Practice: Pre-teach bathroom expectations privately to students who struggle with long transitions.
Prompt Reinforcement: Praise students immediately upon correct water line formation: "Super line up on the black line, Lucas!"
Ranger & Coach Verbal Scripts & Scaling
Split-Trail Facilitation Step-by-Step
Division: Cohort A represents the Blue Side grid of spots (18-20 kids). Cohort B represents the Yellow Side grid of spots (18-20 kids). This keeps groups distinct.
Cues: Call: "Cohort A, explore active trails! Cohort B, stay at home spots and march!" Turn on background music for Cohort A's hike.
The Swap (Every 2 Mins): Stop music. Sound a chime or raise Red Campfire Freeze paddle. Both cohorts freeze immediately.
Invert Roles: Call: "Cohort A, march to your home spot Cohort B, explore active trails!" Restart music. Repeat swaps to maintain engagement.
Ranger Briefing Script:
"Campers! Look at this forest! This entire gym floor is our open general space. You can hike slowly anywhere there is empty path. But steer clear: orange cones are prickly bushes, pool noodles are muddy logs! Give buddies waves, but stay 2 giant steps away. Let's blaze trails in 3, 2, 1, Go!"
Water: "Music's playing! Walk to black line, form 2 lines, sip, and exit left or right!"
Restroom: "Raise hand, walk quiet, voices off, wash with soap, and return!"

What Kids Do:
Sub/Assistant Tip: No running! Ensure waiting partner B stays in sitting option. (Pretzel, Mountain, Mermaid)
STATION B Shelter Builders (Assistant Cues)
Setup: Hula hoops on floor. PE Assistant stands at Station B holding the two-sided Red/Green Lantern Card.
What Kids Do: Campers walk around hoops while Assistant shows Green. When Assistant flips to Red, partners jump inside & build "tent roof" hands!
Sub/Assistant Tip:Assistant Led! Assistant displays visual cues locally for Station B. Keeps it silent, avoiding gym-wide music conflicts.
STATION C River Crossing
Setup: Lay 10-12 parallel pool noodles across the floor as "stepping logs" over the river.
What Kids Do: Partners hold a shared noodle (one on each end) & step together over logs to cross safely.
Sub/Assistant Tip: Team pace is key! If one partner walks too fast, they must go back to river bank and reset.
Visual Supports
Rotation cards: Place a visual check card showing steps at every station.
Lined trails: Use floor tape to guide the wood gathering pathways.
Sensory Strategies
Low-volume audio: Gradually lower the music to alert campers of transition times.
Sensory-safe roles: Let students keep score or count beanbags.
Motor Adaptations
Scoop Grabbers: Provide easy-grip handles for collecting firewood.
Closer Wood Piles: Shorten retrieval walking paths for stamina challenges.
Emotional Support
Weekly job rotation: Ensure every camper gets a turn as Equipment Manager.
Visual Timer Board: Display station clock so rotation times are predictable.
Ranger & Coach Verbal Scripts
Rotation Call: "Stop Music! (Wait). Hey Team! (Wait). Equipment Reset! Line up next cone, and show me your Ready Body!"
Cleanup Call: "Hey Team! (Yes Coach!). It's time to pack up. Weekly Equipment Managers, gather gear. Everyone else: Stop, Sit, and Listen!"
