5. Fun Exit Ticket: "My Secret Number"

Whisper a Spanish number (1-10) to each student. To leave the classroom, they must write the actual digit corresponding to that number on a sticky note and stick it on the door.

Support / Modification

Display a reference key on the board mapping numbers 1-10 to digits. Allow students to write the digits on their worksheet instead of full Spanish words if spelling is too difficult.

Extension Challenge

Challenge students to count past 10 up to 20 (once, doce, trece...) or perform basic additions aloud in Spanish, such as "dos más tres es cinco".

Instructional Tip: "The Finger Flash"

When checking comprehension, flash a number on your fingers silently and ask the room to call out the Spanish name. It is a rapid, zero-prep way to assess individual students' instant translation speed.

Establish a permanent classroom rule: From now on, students must ask "¿Puedo ir al baño?" in Spanish to get the hall pass. For today's exit ticket, they must touch one of the four key objects on their way out and name it aloud.

Support / Modification

Tape large visual labels (e.g., "el libro") directly onto objects around the room. Allow students to read the labels as visual cues when making requests or pointing.

Extension Challenge

Encourage students to combine requests with objects, such as: "Necesito un lápiz, por favor" (I need a pencil, please).

Classroom Management Tip: "Immersion Rule"

Be gentle but extremely firm. Once these survival phrases are introduced, refuse to answer requests made in English. Patiently prompt students: "¿Cómo se dice?" (How do you say it?) until they use the target Spanish phrase.

Hold up a colored object. Ask the class: "¿De qué color es el libro?" The class responds as a chorus: "Es verde" or "Es azul".

Support / Modification

For students struggling with word order, write the nouns in black marker and colors in their matching colored dry-erase markers on the board to reinforce position physically.

Extension Challenge

Introduce plural agreement: "los libros verdes" (books add "es", colors add "es/s"). Show advanced students how both noun and adjective change.
