Team Commitment
"We Not Me": The AB 5th Grade Travel Basketball team will seek to encourage all members to improve and succeed. While every player will play every game, playing time will not be equal and must be earned through effort, execution, and coachability. Through the collective effort in practice and games, along with effort and good sportsmanship on and off the court, we hope to help players grow individually and improve the team collectively. We strive to play inclusive, unselfish, determined, cohesive team basketball; one where we all enjoy each others successes and support each other in disappointment.
Expectations of Our Student Athletes
Player Commitment
- To represent our team, families, and towns through respect and good sportsmanship.
- To be a great teammate, promote a positive team culture, to work hard, to enjoy competition, and to grow skills.
- Players are expected to listen and to be coachable. Players who are disrupting practice will be asked to sit out for several minutes until the coach will speak with them about the expected behavior to be met.
- To communicate concerns and or time management issues with the Coach in a timely manner.
Expectations of Our Coaches
Coach Leadership
- To represent our team, families, and towns through respect and good sportsmanship.
- To create a safe athletic environment where student athletes can make mistakes and learn.
- To promote teamwork and a positive team culture.
- To communicate concerns with players and parents in an appropriate and timely manner.
- To communicate clear team expectations, schedules, and game/meet times.
Expectations of Parents and Guardians
Family Support
- To be positive cheerleaders and role models for sportsmanship and athletics at events for all players and teams.
- To help their student athlete communicate any concerns or to share concerns with the Coach in a productive manner.
- To be at pick up times in a timely manner after athletic events.
