Phase 1: Mission Briefing (Slides 1-2)
Introduce the "Safety Squad Academy" theme. Project the school's safety matrix. Guide students through the three primary safety zones: Classroom, Hallway, and Shared Spaces. Connect physical rules directly to respecting ourselves and classmates.
5-10 Mins
Phase 2: Tactical Drills (Slides 3-4)
Active Classroom Movement: Project the training commands. Run the "Rapid Response Drill": call out safe/unsafe scenarios. If safe, students give a crisp officer salute; if unsafe, they cross arms as an "X". Next, do the Hallway Walking Demo —have rows take turns showing perfect, silent walking form.
10-17 Mins
Phase 3: Partner Dilemma Mission (Slide 5)
Distribute Safety Squad Challenge Cards and Mission Logs to pairs. Pairs read their custom safety scenario and complete the response. Facilitator Role: Circulate to prompt deeper thinking: "What makes that choice unsafe? How does your solution protect everyone's learning time?"
17-20 Mins
Phase 4: Cadet Secret Handshake & Activation (Slide 6)
Ditch oral reports! Give pairs 60 seconds to design a 3-step "Squad Handshake" (e.g., clap, fist bump, sharp salute). Next, run the Badge Activation Relay : pairs safely stand up and high-five exactly 3 other pairs while saying "Code Green!" . End with everyone raising their Mission Logs for a unified group pledge and salute.
Academy Management Pro-Tips
Physical Control (Pacing 5-10)
For active movement, use a crisp "Freeze!" or a double clap to instantly stop action. Set clear boundaries before students stand: "We will demonstrate walking, not running. Respect your squad's personal space bubbles."
Rapid Badge Activation Pacing
To prevent chaotic running during the Badge Activation high-fives, model a "controlled tactical glide" (silent walking) beforehand. Count down backward from 10 to gather everyone back to their seats in absolute silence.
