Grade 1 Health & Safety
30 Minute Lesson
Nurse Squad!
When should we visit the nurse, and when can our classroom help?
Big Hurts • Classroom Care • Stay Safe Together
Meet Our School Helper
What Does the Nurse Do?
Checks Sick Kids
Takes your temperature, feels your head, and checks why your tummy hurts.
Cleans Big Cuts
Washes scrapes with medicine, adds clean pads, and gives ice packs for bumps.
Gives Safe Medicine
Keeps doctor orders safe and calls home when kids need to rest in bed.
The nurse's office is for healing bodies, not just visiting!
Our Big Decision
Is It Big or Is It Small?
We ask our body: Can my classroom teacher help, or do I need the nurse?
NURSE OFFICE

Before we ever go to the nurse, remember these steps:
1
Ask Teacher First
Never leave the classroom by yourself. Always tell your teacher what hurts.
2
Take a Pass & Buddy
Hold the nurse pass and take a trusted hallway walking buddy with you.
3
Walk Calm & Safe
Walk with quiet feet in the hall. Keep your hands calm so you stay safe!
