Magnet Feet SlidesAre your feet magnets? When I say FREEZE, can you stop your ball instantly? The Control Zone The Control Zone is the invisible circle around your body. Keep the ball close to your toes. If you can touch it, you control it! How to Trap Sole Trap Step on the ball gently with the bottom of your shoe. Just like a magnet! Inside Trap Use the inside cushion of your foot to "catch" the ball like a glove. Keep your arms out for balance! Scout Mission Magnet Tag! Roll your ball into the open grass. Chase it down! When I whistle, use your sole trap. Hold your balance for 3 seconds!
Trapping Techniques Teacher GuideTrapping Techniques Teacher Guide | Lesson 1 Unit: Foot Skills Grade 1 Lesson Objective Students will demonstrate the ability to stop a rolling ball using the sole and inside of the foot while maintaining balance. They will understand the concept of the "Control Zone" as a safe space for ball possession. Materials Needed 1 Soccer ball per student Cones (to mark boundaries) Whistle or signal Spot markers Introduction & Hook (5 mins) Script: "Welcome, Soccer Scouts! Today we are working on our secret weapon: Magnet Feet. How fast can you stop a moving object? If our ball is rolling away, we need to catch it before it leaves our territory!" Ask: "Why do we want the ball to stay close to us?" (So we can decide where to go next). Define Control Zone: The area you can reach with one quick step. Skill Instruction: The Traps (10 mins) Sole Trap "The Magnet Step." Place the bottom of the foot gently on top of the ball. Caution students not to "stomp" which can cause them to roll off the ball and fall. Key Cue: "Toe up, heel down (slightly), soft foot." Inside Trap "The Cushion Catch." Use the inside arch of the foot to meet the ball. Pull the foot back slightly on contact to absorb the energy. Key Cue: "Catch it like a water balloon." Practice Activities (20 mins) 1 Stationary Toss & Trap Students toss the ball gently in front of them and practice the Sole Trap. Repeat 10 times. Switch to Inside Trap. 2 The Magnet Zone Game Students roll the ball into open space, chase it, and trap it on your whistle. If they trap it in their "Control Zone" (within one step), they earn a "Scout Point." Differentiation & Safety Challenge Have students trap balls that are rolled to them by a partner with increasing speed. Support Use larger, softer balls (foam) that move slower. Focus solely on the sole trap first. Safety Tip "Eyes up!" Remind students to look for their ball AND their friends. Avoid collisions by keeping balls on the ground.

Soccer Car SlidesStart Your Engines! We are driving our Soccer Cars today! Can you stay on the track and avoid the traffic? Tiny Touches The Rule: "Taps, not kicks!" Why? Tiny touches keep the ball in your Control Zone. Lots of small touches! Steering the Car Inside Foot Use the big cushion for straight lines and easy turns. Outside Foot Use the "pinky toe" side for fast getaways and sharp turns. Traffic Watch! Keep Your Eyes Up! Look at the ball, then look at the gym. Find the Green Space (open areas). Watch out for other "cars"!
Dribbling Drills Teacher GuideDribbling Drills Teacher Guide | Lesson 2 Unit: Foot Skills Grade 1 Lesson Objective Students will move continuously with a soccer ball using small, controlled touches with both the inside and outside of the foot. Students will practice spatial awareness by navigating a shared space without colliding. Equipment 1 Ball per student 15-20 Cones (traffic) Poly-spots The "Soccer Car" Metaphor (5 mins) Script: "Scouts, today we aren't just walking, we are driving! Your ball is your car, and your feet are the tires. To stay in the race, you have to keep your car close. If you kick it too far, your car crashes into the grass!" Key Performance Cues TINY Touches Ball stays within 1-2 feet of body. HEAD On a Swivel Look at the ball, then look at the field. BOTH Feet Alternate feet to maintain balance and speed. Activity 1: Traffic Control 10 MINS Rules: Green Light: Dribble in any direction with tiny touches. Yellow Light: Dribble in slow motion (super control). Red Light: SOLE TRAP and freeze. Activity 2: Parallel Parking 15 MINS Scatter cones (obstacles) and poly-spots (parking spaces) around the gym. Students must dribble around the traffic cones and "park" their ball on a poly-spot using a sole trap. After parking for 3 seconds, they find a new spot. Teaching Tip: If the gym is too crowded, split the class into "Drivers" and "Traffic Lights" (students who hold up color cards). Scout Debrief What happens if we take a "monster kick" in traffic? Which foot part was better for turning quickly—inside or outside? How did you know when you were about to hit another car?

Castle Kick SlidesStorm the Castle! Can you knock down the Cone Castle using only the inside of your foot? Accuracy is your superpower today! The Perfect Pass 1 Plant Foot Point your non-kicking toes at the target. 2 L-Shape Turn your kicking foot out like the letter "L". Inside Foot Cushion Stay on the Carpet Look Find your target with your eyes. Step Step next to the ball, not behind it. Swing Swing like a clock's pendulum. Mission: Knockdown Dribble to the Kicking Spot. Trap the ball (Freeze it!). Inside-foot kick to hit the cone.
Target Practice Teacher GuideTarget Practice Teacher Guide | Lesson 3 Unit: Foot Skills Grade 1 Lesson Objective Students will demonstrate an accurate kick using the inside of the foot (the "L-kick"). They will practice hitting stationary targets from various distances and understand the importance of the plant foot for direction. Setup Cones (tall or flat) Wall spots/hula hoops Soccer balls Knockdown Challenge (5 mins) "Scouts, our cones have turned into a tall castle! If we want to get past, we have to use our secret 'L-Kick' to knock them over. It's not about how hard you kick, but how accurate you are!" The "Plant Foot" (Compass) The non-kicking foot acts like a compass. It should land 4-6 inches next to the ball, pointing exactly where you want the ball to go. -> The "Kicking Foot" (Putter) Turn the foot out so the arch (the flat part) faces the ball. Keep the ankle "locked" or stiff like a golf putter or a clock pendulum. "LOCK THE ANKLE" Activity: Castle Guard Drill Instructions STATIONARY TO START Place a cone 5-7 feet away from a student. Student places the ball on a poly-spot. Student takes one step, plants their "compass foot," and swings their "putter foot." Goal: Strike the center of the ball to keep it on the ground. Dynamic Mission MOVING BALL "Scouts, the castle is moving! Dribble toward the target, trap it to stop it, then strike!" Pair students up. They pass to each other, emphasizing a trap before the return pass. Cue: "Trap first, then aim." Scout Coaching Points ERROR: Ball goes in the air FIX: Tell student to hit the ball in the "belly button" (middle), not the bottom. ERROR: Ball goes sideways FIX: Check the plant foot. Is it pointing at the target or away from it?

Power Kick SlidesCross the Ocean! Can you kick your ball all the way to the other side of the Gym Ocean? We are switching from Accuracy to Power! The Secret Weapon: Laces Inside Foot Good for short passes and accuracy. "The Putter" Instep (Laces) Good for distance and POWER kicks. "The Driver" Power Scout Steps 1 Point Your Toes Down Hit the ball with your shoelaces. 2 Big Swing Take a small running start. 3 Follow Through Land on your kicking foot. Wait for the Whistle! In the Ocean, we all kick AT THE SAME TIME. Never kick while someone is retrieving a ball. Safety first, Scouts!
Distance Drills Teacher GuideDistance Drills Teacher Guide | Lesson 4 Unit: Foot Skills Grade 1 Lesson Objective Students will distinguish between a pass (inside foot) and a power kick (instep/shoelaces). They will demonstrate the "Power Kick" mechanics: pointed toes, running approach, and a strong follow-through to generate distance. Safety Check Crucial Protocol: All students must kick in the same direction on command. No retrieving balls until the signal is given. The Gym Ocean (5 mins) "Scouts, look across the gym. That's the Great Gym Ocean! Today, we aren't just passing to a friend. We are clearing the water! To do that, we need the 'Power of the Laces'." Lesson 3: The Putter Inside foot, slow and controlled, stationary ball. Lesson 4: The Driver Instep (Laces), fast and powerful, moving approach. The 4-Step Power Approach 1 The Point Pointing toes DOWN toward the ground. Strike the ball with the hard part of the laces. 2 The Approach Take 2-3 steps toward the ball. Don't start from a standstill. 3 The Strike Hit the middle of the ball with the center of the laces. Keep the ankle firm. 4 The Land Students should "hop" and land on their kicking foot after the strike. This shows full power transfer. Activity: Crossing the Ocean POWER DRILL Divide the class into two lines on one baseline. Place a ball for each student. On Go: Students approach and kick for distance using laces. Students stay on the line and watch where their ball lands. On the second whistle, everyone runs to retrieve their ball and dribbles it back to the start. Coaching Cue: "Kick it through the ball, not just at it!" Scout Reflection Where do we point our toes for a power kick? (Down!) Why do we land on our kicking foot? (Because we were swinging so hard!) Which part of our foot feels harder—the inside arch or the laces?

Course Setup Zone 1: Zig-Zag Cones Zone 2: Red Poly-Spot Zone 3: Cone Goal Zone 4: Open Ocean The Safari Script (5 mins) "Scouts, you have completed your training. Now, you must navigate the Safari! You will snake through the tall grass, freeze at the watering hole, knock down the castle guard, and finally blast the ball across the ocean to safety. Eyes up, tiny touches, and show me that power!" Safari Stations 1 Snake Dribble (Agility) Students must dribble through a line of 5-6 cones using tiny touches. Encourage alternating between inside and outside of the foot for turns. 2 Watering Hole (Trap/Control) When they reach a red poly-spot, they must Freeze the ball with a Sole Trap and balance on one foot for 3 seconds. 3 Castle Guard (Accuracy Kick) From a marked spot, use an inside-foot "L-Kick" to knock down a tall cone. If they miss, they retrieve and try again once. 4 Ocean Blast (Power Kick) A final clearing kick using the laces (instep). Aim for the far wall. Remind them to land on their kicking foot. Master Scout Observation SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE: Ball stays within 2 feet during dribbling. Sole is flat on top of the ball for trap. Plant foot points at target during kick. Toes point down for power kick. NEEDS SUPPORT IF: Kicks ball too far and has to chase it. Stomps on ball or loses balance. Toes point out for power kick (using inside for power). Doesn't look up during movement.
