Dear First Grade Families,
We are excited for our upcoming two-day Safety Town learning experience! Students will learn pedestrian, traffic, and emergency safety through a school assembly followed by hands-on village exploration.
Important Attendance Note: Due to facility capacity and safety regulations, both the assembly and field trip are strictly for students and school staff only. Parents and family visitors are not invited to attend or chaperone.
Day 1 • In-School (Students Only)
Safety Town Kickoff Assembly
Monday, October 19
Time & Location
9:00 AM – 10:00 AM
School Gym (All 1st Graders)
Assembly Program (School Staff Supervised):
- Presentation by local police, fire personnel, and safety officers
- Rules of the road: traffic signals, crosswalks, stop signs, and helmet use
- Orientation and safety rules for Tuesday’s mini pedal-car course
Day 2 • Field Trip (Students & Staff Only)
Safety Town Village On-Site Exploration

Rotations Each group experiences 90 mins of hands-on pedal driving & pedestrian drills.
Lunch Schedule Sack lunches will be eaten either on-site in the pavilion or at school around session times.
Dismissal All buses return before regular dismissal; normal bus and pickup routines apply.
Tuesday Field Trip Checklist: What Students Need
Sack Lunch
100% disposable bag labeled with child’s name; includes drink. No metal/hard lunchboxes.
Sneakers Required
Closed-toe athletic shoes mandatory for pedal car course safety. No sandals or Crocs.
School Shirt & Layers
Wear blue school spirit shirt and light weather layer; activities take place outdoors.
