Lie flat on spots in starfish shape. Close eyes. Take 3 deep breaths: inhale calmness, exhale slowly through lips like blowing out a birthday candle.
• Unit Reflection Questions:
Modifications for Students with Mobility Impairments Adapted Sequence Matrix
• 1. Balance: Brakes locked → 2-arm overhead "Crown Balance" (3 sec).
• 2. Roll: Roll a tactile ball down an angled arm ramp or rock torso forward/back.
• 3. Finish: Dual hand victory reach ("Ta-da!").
• Gentle wedge mat allows student to perform roll with low gravitational effort.
• Partner or aide provides gentle hip guidance to ease transition from tabletop into side roll.
• Support bars or soft foam wedges available for balance stability.
• High-contrast picture prompt cards let non-verbal or ELL students point to select their 3 tricks.
• Buddy partner models the selected balance beside the mat.
• Extended celebration window so students with spasticity can dismount unhurried.
Sequence Cue: Hold every balance for three slow Mississippi seconds! Chin stays tucked during the roll. Ta-da bow finishes the trick!
CUES: BALANCE 1-2-3 • TUCK & ROLL • FINISH TA-DA!
