Part 1: High Energy, Midline & Coordination Resets
1
Cross-Crawl March Midline
Bilateral brain integration & coordination • 2 minutes
Ideal Before Reading/Math
ACTION STEPS:
- Stand tall behind your pushed-in chair. March in place, lifting knees high.
- Reach across your body: tap your right hand to your left knee.
- Alternate cleanly: tap your left hand to your right knee.
- Slow-motion challenge: touch opposite elbow to knee while humming or counting!
Teacher Prompt
"Reach all the way across your belt buckle! Wake up the bridge connecting both sides of your brain!"
K-1 Tip: Place matching colored stickers on opposite hands & knees.
2
Popcorn Jump & Freeze Energy Burst
Proprioceptive discharge & impulse control • 2–3 minutes
Post-Testing / Desk Slump
ACTION STEPS:
- Crouch down low into a small, tight "unpopped kernel" on the carpet.
- Teacher whispers: "The pan gets warmer... sizzle... sizzle..."
- Teacher shouts "POP!" — students jump up with arms star-wide.
- Immediately call "FREEZE!" — hold completely motionless for 5 solid seconds.
Teacher Prompt
"Quiet sizzle down low... giant pop to the sky! Freeze like museum statues with zero giggles!"
Brain Benefit: Toggles sympathetic surge and rapid inhibitory control.
3
Mirror Monster Partner Sync Partner Focus
Visual attention, social attunement & motor planning • 3 minutes
Transition & Re-focus
ACTION STEPS:
- Partners stand 2 feet apart, hands open chest-high, palm-to-palm (no touching).
- Partner A is the "Actor"; Partner B is the "Magic Mirror."
- The Actor makes slow, continuous arm and head shapes (underwater speed).
- The Mirror copies every micro-shift in exact sync without speaking.
- Ring chime at 60 seconds to switch roles seamlessly.
Teacher Prompt
"Move like molasses pouring from a jar. If a visitor walked in, they shouldn't know who is leading!"
Brain Benefit: Triggers mirror neurons and builds peer empathy.
Golden Rule: Keep directions under 20 seconds. Routine works best when practiced at identical times daily.

Down-Regulation & Mindful Centering
Parasympathetic Reset • Page 2 of 3
Part 2: Calming Flows & Sensory Resets
Targeted activities to decrease sensory overload, deepen breath oxygenation, and transition high-energy excitement into quiet, focused seatwork.
4
Lazy 8 Sky Tracing Midline & Ocular
Eye muscle tracking, bilateral integration & fine focus • 2 minutes
Pre-Writing & Reading
ACTION STEPS:
- Extend your writing arm straight out in front with thumb pointing straight up.
- Draw a giant infinity symbol (sideways figure-8) slowly in the air.
- Start at the center point, swoop up and to the left first, loop, pass through center, and loop to the right.
- Crucial: Keep head perfectly still; eyes track thumb as it crosses midline.
Teacher Prompt
"Head locked straight ahead like an owl! Only your eagle eyes follow the magic rocket thumb."
Reading Link: Trains saccadic eye movements across book pages.
5
Tree & Mountain Yoga Flow Yoga Balance
Vestibular stabilization, postural tone & grounding • 2–3 minutes
Whole-Body Grounding
ACTION STEPS:
- Mountain Pose: Stand tall, feet shoulder-width, roll shoulders down, breathe deep.
- Tree Pose: Kickstand right heel against left ankle (or inner calf; avoid knee).
- Press palms together at chest; lock eyes on one steady spot across the room.
- Grow your tree branches: Slowly lift arms overhead for 4 slow deep breaths.
Teacher Prompt
"Roots grow down into the floor. If a wind blows your branches, just gently regrow your pose."
Modification: Allow K students to rest one hand lightly on desk corner.
6
Bumblebee Humming Breath Pranayama Breath
Vagus nerve activation, auditory soothing & down-regulation • 2 minutes
Total Room Reset
ACTION STEPS:
- Sit criss-cross or flat in chairs. Gently place palms over ears or cup your cheeks.
- Inhale deeply through your nose for 4 counts, filling your belly like a balloon.
- With lips gently closed, exhale while making a prolonged hum: "Mmmmmmm..."
- Feel the tickly vibration in your lips, nose, and chest. Repeat 4 full breath cycles.
Teacher Prompt
"Listen to the bee buzzing right inside your ears. Let the vibration melt away the fidgets."
Physiology: Prolonged humming slows heart rate and activates calm response.
Teacher Best Practices & Video Break Guidelines
Page 3: Curated Video Playlist →
Using Exercise Videos: Establish a designated 2-foot "bubble space" around each desk before pressing play. Use a 10-second auditory countdown to signal screen-off and transition.
Kindergarten & 1st Support: Anchor movements with concrete animal cues (frog leaps, tall giraffe reaches). Always provide a visual model at the front of the rug.
2nd & 3rd Grade Extension: Pair cross-crawls with skip-counting (e.g., counting by 3s or 4s) or spelling words aloud to blend physical reset with academic fluency.
