Wonderland Story Script
Teacher Resource
The Whispering Woods
A Wonderland Yoga Journey Story Script
How to use this script
Read this story slowly and expressively. Pause at each [POSE] instruction to demonstrate the movement and give students time to settle into the position. Encourage them to keep their eyes closed or focused softly on one spot.
Introduction
"Everyone, come to a comfortable seated position on your mat. Close your eyes if you feel safe, or look down at your knees. Take a deep breath in through your nose... and let a big sigh out of your mouth. Again. Imagine we are leaving our classroom behind. We are walking through a magical, invisible doorway made of shimmering light."
The Ancient Forest
"As we step through the door, the air smells like peppermint and damp moss. We find ourselves in the Ancient Whispering Forest. The trees here are taller than skyscrapers, with leaves that glow like emeralds."
POSE
Tree Pose Stand tall, bring one foot to your ankle or calf, reach your 'branches' to the sky.
"Feel your roots growing deep into the magical soil. The wind blows through your branches, but you stay strong and steady."
The Silver Wolf
"Suddenly, a rustle in the bushes! A Curious Silver Wolf peeps out. He wants to show us the way to the Crystal River. He stretches his paws out and looks back at us."
POSE
Downward Dog Hands and feet on the mat, hips high. Wag your 'tail'!
"Look at the world upside down for a moment! See the purple sky and the floating clouds."
The Magic Flower Fields
"The wolf leads us to a meadow filled with Giant Magic Flowers. These flowers don't just sit there—they have wings! Thousands of neon butterflies are waking up as the sun hits their petals."
POSE
Butterfly Pose Sit with feet together, flap your 'wings' gently.
"Take a deep breath and smell the sweet flower dust. Flap your wings softly and imagine where you would fly."
The Guardian of the Mist
"To get to the heart of Wonderland, we must pass the Guardian of the Mist. He is brave and strong, standing on the edge of the Rainbow Bridge. He welcomes us with a powerful stance."
POSE
Warrior Pose Step one foot back, bend front knee, reach arms wide.
"Feel your strength. You are a brave traveler in this magical land. You are steady and ready for anything."
Returning Home
"As the sun starts to set in Wonderland, the colors turn soft orange and deep blue. It's time to find our way back. We lie down on a bed of soft, velvet moss and watch the stars appear."
