Anticipatory Set: The Thirsty Body (7 Minutes)
Circle Discussion
What is Dehydration?
When our bodies do not have enough water! It makes muscles feel heavy, tongues sticky, head tired, and energy crash—just like a wilting flower.
The Daily Rule: 5–6 Glasses
Children need at least 5 to 6 glasses of pure water every day. When running, sweating, or playing outside in the sun, bodies need even more!
Teacher Read-Aloud Script
Teacher: “Friends, put your hand on your heart. Can you feel it beat? (Wait for hands on hearts) Our bodies are like super engines, and water is the magic fuel that keeps them running smooth and cool! But what happens if a car runs out of fuel?”
Students: “It stops! It breaks down!”
Teacher: “Exactly! When our bodies run low on water, it is called dehydration. You might get sleepy, cranky, or your mouth feels dry like sand. To stay fast and strong, how many glasses of water do kids need every day? Count with me on your fingers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... six glasses! And if we run outside, we need even extra!”
Drinks Discussion: Why Not Soda, Juice, or Sports Drinks?
Sugary Drinks (Soda, Punch, Sports)
Packed with sugar and extra calories. They cause quick energy spikes, rapid crashes, and harm teeth without actually cooling your body down.
Pure Water (The Champion Drink)
Zero sugar, zero crash! Water cools down your muscles, cleans your body, powers your brain, and provides lasting energy for playing.

Game Execution & Facilitation Protocol
Activity Time: 15 Min
Initial Setup & Court Layout
Circle formation • 3 Noodles in Center
Seated Circle
All students sit criss-cross facing inward.
The Leader
Walks clockwise around outside tapping heads.
Center Oasis
3 pool noodles rest in center of circle.
1
The Walking Tap (“Soda... Soda...”)
The Leader walks gently around the outside circle, tapping each head softly while saying: “Soda... soda... soda...” (Remind students: soft fingertip touch only!).
2
The “WATER!” Triad Explosion
When the leader taps someone and shouts “WATER!”, that tapped student PLUS the friend to their left and the friend to their right immediately leap up, dash into the center, and grab the 3 pool noodles. They are now the Hydration Taggers!
3
The Scatter & Gentle Tag
The rest of the class stands and scatters across the designated boundary. Taggers move to gently touch classmates with noodles (below shoulders). Once tagged, a student sits down criss-cross as a “dehydrated plant.”
4
The 5-Gulp Hydration Rescue
Untagged students can run to the sidelines, grab a plastic rescue cup, and bring it to a seated friend. The seated friend pretends to drink: “Gulp 1, Gulp 2, Gulp 3, Gulp 4, Gulp 5! Rehydrated!” They now take the cup to rescue someone else and jump back in!
Safety Protocols
- • Soft Noodle Tags: Waists and legs only; never face or neck.
- • Gentle Tagging Pace: Start round 1 at a “fast walk” or “slow jog” before full speed.
- • Boundary Respect: Staying inside the cone line prevents wall collisions.
Pre-K / K Adaptations
- • Leader Rotation: Rotate leader every 2–3 minutes so multiple children get turns.
- • Visual Cues: Place floor spots/dots for circle seating so spacing remains orderly.
- • Chant Together: Entire circle chants “Soda, soda...” to build listening focus.
Closure Questions & Formative Check (5 Minutes)
