LESSONS 1–4: CORE TECHNICAL FOUNDATIONS
Individual & Paired Ball Mastery
Lesson 1 Ball Control & Dribbling
Slalom Navigation & Close Contact
Focus on keeping the ball within 1-2 feet using inside and outside surfaces while keeping vision scanning forward.
Warm-Up: "Red Light, Green Light" with sole traps.
Skill Drill: Slalom Gates — zig-zag through staggered cones.
Game: Sharks & Minnows — dribblers protect balls from taggers.
Key Cues: "Pinky toe touch", "Eyes up every two steps", "Soft taps".
Lesson 2 Precision Push Passing
Inside-of-Foot Accuracy & Weight
Introduce the firm instep push pass, non-kicking foot placement, and proper weight of pass for receiver success.
Warm-Up: Partner Foot-Tap Mirror Drill.
Skill Drill: Gate Crossing — pairs pass through 3-foot cone gates.
Game: "Gate Pinball" — score 1 point for every successful gate pass.
Key Cues: "L-shape foot", "Strike ball equator", "Follow through to partner".
Lesson 3 First Touch & Cushioning
Absorbing Force & Directional Control
Teach students to receive incoming passes with a giving foot, setting the ball out from under the body toward open grass.
Warm-Up: Self-toss bounce traps (thigh, sole, inside).
Skill Drill: "Trap & Turn Box" — receive from North, exit to East.
Game: 3v1 Keep-Away with two-touch maximum rule.
Key Cues: "Soft foot like a sponge", "Touch toward space", "Balance arms".
Lesson 4 Shooting & Finishing
Instep Drive & Corner Placement
Master striking with the shoelaces for power, keeping chest over the ball to prevent skyballs, and targeting corners.
Warm-Up: Dynamic leg swings & instep tap checks.
Skill Drill: Receive-Turn-Strike station at 12-yard penalty mark.
Game: "Golden Boot Arena" — 3 teams rotate attack and rebound.
Key Cues: "Toes down to grass", "Laces contact", "Chest over ball".
Common Technical Pitfalls & Quick Fixes
Kicking with Toes Fix: Ask student to lock ankle down like a ballerina point; practice shoelace strike on stationary ball.
Ball Bouncing Off Foot Fix: Foot too rigid on trap. Prompt: "Yield backward 2 inches the moment the ball makes contact."
Wild Shots Over Net Fix: Leaning back at impact. Prompt: "Keep chin tucked, chest directly above the ball."

LESSONS 5–8: TACTICS, DEFENSE & GAMEPLAY
Combinations & Small-Sided Play
Lesson 5 Give-and-Go Combinations
1-2 Wall Pass & Movement Off the Ball
Teach players not to admire their pass, but to immediately sprint into open space to receive a return touch around a defender.
Warm-Up: Pass & Follow Sprint Across Grid.
Skill Drill: 2v1 Continuous Overload in 15x10 yard box.
Game: "Endzone Relay" — teams must complete one 1-2 pass to score.
Key Cues: "Pass and go", "Angle your run", "One-touch return".
Lesson 6 1v1 Defensive Principles
Delay, Jockey, & Controlled Interception
Shift focus to defense: low center of gravity, angled body position, patience (don't dive in), and channeling toward sidelines.
Warm-Up: Defensive Shuffle & Shadow Mirror Tag.
Skill Drill: Channel 1v1 — defender forces attacker toward cone gate.
Game: "Clearance Gauntlet" — score by winning ball and hitting target.
Key Cues: "Surfer stance", "Force onto weak foot", "Patience, no stab".
Lesson 7 4v4 Diamond Spacing Tactics
Positional Roles: Anchor, Wings, & Point
Introduce the diamond formation (1-2-1) to avoid "beehive soccer." Teach triangles to always provide two passing options.
Warm-Up: 4-Corner Passing Diamond Warm-up.
Tactical Drill: Frozen Triangle Check — coach shouts "Freeze" to check spacing.
Game: 4v4 Small-Goal Scrimmage (no goalies, active footwork).
Key Cues: "Spread the pitch", "Make two options", "Communicate loudly".
Lesson 8 World Cup Festival & Review
Round-Robin Tournament & Fair Play
Culminating micro-tournament with small teams (3v3 / 4v4). Integrate sportsmanship points and complete student skills reflection.
Warm-Up: Captain-Led Dynamic Stretch & Pass Circuit.
Festival Format: 4 mini-fields; 6-minute timed matches with buzzer.
Scoring: Match score + Fair Play Spirit Point (awarded by referee).
Key Cues: "High-five everyone", "Reset quickly", "Celebrate effort".
Why Small-Sided (4v4) Games?
Research demonstrates that small-sided formats provide players with 135% more passes, 300% more shots, and 500% more 1v1 situations than traditional 11v11 games. In PE, small-sided play eliminates waiting in lines and keeps every student actively engaged throughout the lesson.
