Pull your belly gently toward your spine. A strong core protects your lower back during moves!
Core Power 🛡️
3
Breathe With the Beat
Never hold your breath when dancing! Deep rhythmic breathing feeds your muscles fresh oxygen.
Page 1: Body Map & Move Labels Students label all 6 body centers and connect each with an active warm-up move.
Page 2: Sorter & 4-Step Track Students sort moving vs. still stretches, then build a 32-count warm-up track deciding on movement feel (sharp vs smooth)!

Groove Freeze Battle & Exit Ticket
8 Mins
Freeze Battle: Play music for 16 counts of freestyle warm-up groove, then pause! Students must freeze in a balanced dance pose with soft knees and steady breathing.
Exit Ticket Assessment: Distribute the half-sheet Dance Warmup Exit Ticket. Read prompts together to verify understanding of moving warm-ups and body isolations.
Differentiation & Modifications
• Extension: Have advanced students add syncopated double-time footwork or lead their 4-step track for the class.
• Seated Support: All isolations (head, shoulders, chest, and ankle taps) can be performed seated in a chair.
• Pacing Support: Use count-and-clap modeling (1, 2, 3, 4) before turning on fast music tracks.
Groove Safety Checkpoints
• No Locked Knees: Never hyperextend knees on bounces; keep joints loose and buoyant.
• Personal Space Bubble: Teach dancers to check their "wingspan" before large shoulder rolls or chest waves.
• Easy Neck: No aggressive head flinging; keep neck rolls smooth and small.
