What is it, actually?
Human trafficking is a crime of exploitation, not just movement. It occurs when a person is tricked, forced, or coerced into a situation for the purpose of profit.
Two Main Types:
Labor Trafficking
Sex Trafficking
The AMP Model
How the law defines human trafficking (all three must be present):
ACTION
Recruiting, harboring, transporting, or obtaining a person.
MEANS
Force, fraud, or coercion (threats, lies, manipulation).
PURPOSE
Commercial sex or involuntary labor/services.
*Note: For minors (under 18) in sex trafficking, "MEANS" is not legally required for it to be a crime.
Why Myths Matter
Sensationalized media stories (like Taken) make us look for the wrong signs. If we only look for "kidnapped" victims, we miss the people being exploited by boyfriends, friends, or family members.

What is Grooming?
Grooming is a gradual process of psychological manipulation used by a predator to build a relationship, gain trust, and ultimately exploit a victim.
It is not an event. It is a process.
It happens over weeks, months, or even years.
The Cycle of Manipulation

Step 1: Account Visibility
Set Profile to "Private"
Only people you approve should see your photos, stories, and friend list.
Audit Your "Followers"
Remove anyone you don't know in real life. If you haven't spoken to them, delete them.
Limit Searchability
Turn off the setting that allows people to find you by your phone number or email.
Step 2: Location Security
