Handwashing 20-Second Song:
"Tops and bottoms, tops and bottoms,
In between, in between!
Scrub them all together, scrub them all together,
Now they're clean! Germs are gone!"
Backpack & Cubby Chant:
"Zip the zipper, hear it slide!
Keep my papers safe inside!
On the hook my jacket goes,
Off the floor from head to toes!"

Differentiation & Centers
Center 1: Bubble Lab
Place plastic animal toys in soapy water. Students practice scrubbing all sides with small washcloths while reciting the 20-second handwashing chant.
Center 2: Weather Runway
Dress-up clothes bin: boots, raincoats, mittens, sun hats. Roll a weather dice (Sun, Rain, Snow) and practice zipping and donning the correct gear.
Center 3: Cubby Patrol
Students practice the 3-step cubby routine: bag zipped, coat on hook, shoes tucked under. Peer buddies give each other a superhero high-five check!
"Just water is enough to clean hands."
Coach: Show that water rinses, but soap is the superhero magnet that pulls sticky germs off skin. No soap = germs stay!
"I only need to brush once a week."
Coach: Reinforce morning sun = breakfast breath away; night moon = snack bugs away. Always two times every day.
Fine Motor Needs
Attach keychain rings to coat and backpack zippers for easier grasp; provide chunky pencils for activity sheet.
Visual Learners / ELL
Post laminated picture icons above classroom sinks and cubbies showing the 4 steps without relying on reading text.
Sensory Sensitivities
Offer foam soap instead of gel, unscented paper towels, and allow temperature checks before washing.

Dear Families: Today our class earned their Super Self-Care Hero badges! We learned how to scrub hands with soap for 20 seconds, brush our teeth twice a day, dress for seasonal weather, and keep our backpacks and cubbies organized.
At home you can support your hero by: Asking them to sing our 20-second handwashing song at the bathroom sink, timing their 2-minute bedtime tooth brush, and letting them zip their own backpack every morning!
