Define Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and introduce the YouMeUs approach. Discuss why safety matters even in school settings.
Respect & Harassment
10 MIN
Define harassment in age-appropriate terms. Use slides to distinguish between respectful and disrespectful behaviors. Small group discussion on scenarios.
Reporting Systems
5 MIN
Clarify the difference between "reporting" and "tattling." Identify trusted adults and established school reporting pathways.
Wrap-Up & Reflection
5 MIN
Summarize key takeaways. Prompt reflection on promoting a safe environment. Students complete the Reflection Sheet.

What is Sexual Harassment?
Unwanted behavior that makes someone feel uncomfortable, offended, or scared.
It can be words, actions, or even pictures.
It's not about flirting; it's about power.

Display Warm-Up Activity on board. Allow 2 minutes for silent observation.
Teacher Script
"Good morning/afternoon, everyone! To get us started today, I have an image displayed on the board. I want you to take a moment, look closely, and see if you can spot any 'safety slip-ups' in the picture. Think about what might be unsafe or potentially cause harm."
[After 2 minutes]
"Now, who can share one safety slip-up they noticed and tell us why it's a slip-up? Great observations, everyone! It's clear many of you already have a good eye for spotting potential hazards. Today, we're going to talk more about why it's so important to be aware of safety, not just in a picture, but in our everyday lives."

"Take a look at our lesson title: 'Safety Superheroes Assemble!' What comes to mind when you hear that? ... That's right! A superhero protects others. Today, you're becoming safety superheroes."
"When we talk about 'workplace safety,' what do you think that means? Even if you don't have a job yet, think about school as your 'workplace'. It's about keeping everyone safe and healthy—not just physical safety, but feeling respected too. We call this WHS: Workplace Health and Safety."
"We use the 'YouMeUs' approach. 'You' is your choices, 'Me' is my choices, and 'Us' is how we work together. If one person is unsafe, it can affect everyone."

"Part of feeling safe is being treated with respect. Sometimes people experience harassment, specifically sexual harassment. This is unwanted behavior that makes someone feel uncomfortable or scared. It's not about flirting; it's about power and boundaries."
"Let's look at examples. Bumping into someone or getting a bad grade isn't harassment. But unwanted touching, sexual jokes, or sharing inappropriate pictures IS. It's about the impact on the person—if they feel disrespected, that matters."
