Time: 10 Minutes Materials Needed Yoga Mats or Soft Floor Large Timer / Clock Chart Paper & Markers Yoga Flow Pose Cards Passage: Morning in the Garden Passage: A Rainy Day Adventure Passage: The Helpful Squirrel Learning Objective Students will improve reading fluency by engaging in repeated readings of short passages while practicing basic yoga poses to build accuracy, expression, and pace. Lesson Instructions 1 Warm-Up & Centering Breaths 5 Min Invite students to arrange mats in a circle and sit quietly. Model Mountain Pose: stand tall, reach arms overhead on inhale, lower on exhale. Lead three slow, deep breaths with eyes closed. Explain that pairing yoga with reading makes fluency practice fun and focused. 2 Explain Repeated Reading Strategy 3 Min Define fluency: reading accurately, smoothly, and expressively. Show Morning in the Garden passage. Model reading the first line slowly with clear pronunciation and expression. Explain: after each reading line, they move into a new pose for the next line. 3 Read & Flow Session 1 7 Min Partner A reads while Partner B listens and times. Switch after 3 lines. Line 1: Mountain Line 2: Tree Line 3: Warrior II Differentiation: ELLs/readers needing support may read softly to teacher first. 4 Read & Flow Session 2 7 Min Pairs choose a new passage (Rainy Day or Helpful Squirrel). Repeat reading and pose sequence. Encourage focus on expression and pace. Extension: Strong readers add character voices or dramatize lines. 5 Cool-Down & Reflection 8 Min Guide students into Child's Pose (3 calm breaths). Reflect: What was challenging? What was fun? Record goals for the next session on chart paper.

Inhale: Reach arms overhead. Exhale: Lower arms down. Step 1 Tree Pose How to Flow: Balance on one foot. Place the sole of the other foot on your inner thigh or calf. Keep your hands together at your chest or reach them high overhead like branches. Step 2 Warrior II Pose How to Flow: Step feet wide apart. Turn your front foot out and bend that knee. Extend arms parallel to the floor and gaze strong over your front hand. Step 3 Child’s Pose How to Flow: Kneel on your mat and sit back on your heels. Fold forward, resting your forehead on the mat.
