Teacher Resource: Project Pacing & Rubric
Instructor Only
Project Context
This project challenges 11th-grade students to act as Creative Directors. They move from high-level research and branding to marketing strategy, product design, and finally physical prototyping.
Recommended 6-Day Pacing
Day 1
Students complete "Brand Research" to analyze a major brand and find inspiration.
Day 2
Present "Couture Concept Slides". Students begin "Brand Bible" and "Launch Planner".
Day 3
Finish "Launch Planner" (Social Media & Line Sheet). Start "Style Sketchpad" Logo iteration.
Day 4
Complete "Style Sketchpad" Hero Product. Complete "Model Persona" to cast and style the runway look.
Day 5-6
Tangible fabrication with "Runway Avatar Template". Final Showcase gallery walk on Day 6.
Implementation Tips
Design: Challenge students to maintain "visual consistency." Their model's persona and styling should reflect the brand's core values defined in Day 1.
Paper: Standard 20lb paper will be flimsy. Use 65lb+ cardstock for the dolls and clothing.
Gallery: Use the "Model Persona" descriptions as "program notes" for the final runway exhibition.
Assessment Rubric
Criteria Exceptional (10) Proficient (8) Developing (5) Concept & Persona Insightful brand research and a deeply realized model persona. Clear analysis and model identity with minor gaps. Design Unity Hero product, styling, and marketing show high-level collection unity. Products are clearly illustrated with some unity. Minimal detail; pieces feel unrelated. Tangible Doll Sturdy construction; accurate scaling and customized features. Doll and clothes are cut and assembled effectively. Messy; clothing doesn't stay on doll.
