Suggested Lesson Flow
1
Warm-up: Digital Storybook
Display the Animal Action Slides. Read each page together. Encourage students to act out the movements (flap like a bird, stomp like an elephant) as you read the verbs.
2
Guided Practice: Matching
Use the Movement Match Worksheet. Have students work in pairs to connect the animal emoji to the correct action. Review the answers as a class, repeating the full sentence structure.
3
Independent Work: Writing
Students complete the Sentence Builder Worksheet. They should refer to the word bank to write complete sentences, focusing on spelling and structure.
Activity Ideas with Action Cards
1. Animal Charades
A student picks a card and acts out the movement without speaking. The class must guess the sentence: "The rabbit can hop!"
2. Animal Freeze Dance
Play music. When the music stops, hold up a card. Students must perform that animal's action and "freeze" in that pose until the music starts again.
3. Memory Match
Print two sets of cards. Lay them face down. Students take turns flipping two cards to find a match, saying the sentence for each animal they flip.
4. Simon Says...
"Simon says... waddle like a penguin!" Use the verbs from the cards to practice listening comprehension and TPR (Total Physical Response).
