The MusicWill Philosophy
Welcome to Modern Music! Grounded in the MusicWill Framework, we focus on a play-first approach. You will play instruments on Day 1, exploring modern genres like rock, pop, hip-hop, and R&B while collaborating as a team.
Monthly Binder Checks
A binder check at the end of each month focuses on organization and a hands-on music skills assessment.
Classroom Storage:
Keep binders in the room, organized by month.
Grading Impact:
Counts as a Quiz grade (20%).

Gig Rules
• Respect the gear: Care for all instruments.
• Support the band: Collaborate and listen actively.
• Participation: This is a hands on class and participation is absolutely vital to progress.
The Stage Roadmap

Ukulele & Guitar
Fretted Roots
Learn the basics of playing fretted string instruments, including playing basic chords and reading iconic notation.

Bass
Deep Groove
Expanding on our learning in Unit 1, we will learn how to read and create bass rhythms and grooves.

Keyboards
Chords & Leads
Learn the basics of keyboard playing through chords and melodies. Build muscle memory and accompaniment hooks.

Drums
Rhythm Core
Learn the basics including rudiments and playing beats on a basic kit. Focus on physical patterns and coordination.

The Full Band
Main Stage
We will put all of our learning together to form a full ensemble to play popular modern songs.
