What Happens When a Wheel is Lopsided?
If you score a 10/10 on physical health (running, eating, gym) but a 2/10 on emotional health (unmanaged anxiety, isolation)...
The Ride
Can a bicycle ride smoothly if one side of the wheel is completely flat?
The Strain
Where does the extra wear and tear go? How does one weakness damage the rest?
The Fix
Do you need to pump up your strong side more, or focus on repairing the leak?
“Balance isn't a static point. It is the active process of steering.” Slide 5 of 6

A
Analyzing Your Wheel Profile
Reflect on the shape of your wheel from Page 1 and write thoughtful responses.
1. Is your wheel balanced and circular, or is it lopsided/flat? Describe its physical shape.
2. Which dimension of wellness is your strongest? Why is this area currently thriving?
3. Which dimension scored the lowest? What is the biggest challenge or "leak" there?

Lesson Learning Objectives
- ✓ Identify and describe the 4 core dimensions of holistic health (physical, mental, emotional, social) with real-world examples.
- ✓ Synthesize personal health behaviors by completing a self-reported radar chart (Wellness Wheel).
- ✓ Formulate one SMART action plan to support and strengthen their lowest scoring dimension of wellness.
Pacing & Instruction Sequence
00 - 10 MIN
Introduction: What is Holistic Wellness?
Project Slides 1-2. Introduce the term "holistic." Contrast this with the traditional medical model (health as the absence of disease). Use physical hand gestures to show how parts form a single working system.
10 - 25 MIN
Interactive Slides Deep-Dive & Class Debate
Walk through Slides 3-4, highlighting fuel supplies. Pivot to Slide 5 (The Flat Tire Metaphor). Prompt students: "Is a student with a perfect diet and stellar athletic track times healthy if they isolate themselves completely from friends due to intense, unaddressed anxiety?" Let students argue and establish the interactive links.
25 - 45 MIN
Independent Lab: The Wellness Balance Blueprint
Distribute physical copies of the **Wellness Balance Blueprint**. Explain the rating instructions (1-5). Give students 10 minutes of quiet, independent time to score themselves, calculate average scores, and shade in their personal wheels. Provide colored pencils for visual depth. Instruct them to complete Section B (Goals) individually.
45 - 55 MIN
Class Debrief & Exit Reflection
Ask 2-3 volunteers to share their goal-setting strategy without revealing sensitive scores. Collect the blueprints as formative assessment. Ask students to write down one key takeaway on their exit card.

PEDAGOGY & DIFFERENTIATION INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGY
Teacher Discussion Prompts (Slide-by-Slide)
To introduce the Metaphor (Slide 2):
"Imagine a formula 1 race car. It has premium fuel and a custom-built, top-tier engine. But if one of the tires is completely flat, can it finish the race? Why or why not? Your body, mind, feelings, and social groups work the exact same way."
To handle sensitive self-reporting (Slide 6):
"Remember, this is not a competition. No one is grading your wheel shape. A perfect circle doesn't exist. This is a map of where you are right now, and it shows you where to focus your focus."
