The Reality: Students often equate high speed with loudness. Emphasize that tempo is purely how close together the beats occur (speed), whereas dynamics (piano, forte) dictate the volume of those beats.
❌ "The Swing Width Controls Speed"
The Reality: Students may think a wider pendulum swing makes it slower. Explain that the speed is governed strictly by gravity acting on the center of mass. Moving the sliding weight down shortens the radius of oscillation, making it swing faster.
