Warm-Up & Hello Routine (5 Mins) Screen Slide 1 & 2
Stand in a circle. Introduce yourself. "¡Hola amigos! My name is Senor/Senora [Name], and I am so excited to practice Spanish with you today!" Introduce the Essential Question: Why is a name special? Prompt children to turn and wave "¡Hola!" to their left and right neighbors.
"When we look someone in the eyes and smile, we make them feel warm and welcome. Let's practice with our neighbors right now!"

Interactive Song & Presentation (10 Mins) Screen Slide 3 & 4
Sing the "¿Cómo te llamas?" song (to the tune of "Frère Jacques"). Model the questions using your puppet.
"¿Cómo te llamas? (point puppet to children) / ¿Cómo te llamas? / Yo me llamo... Yo me llamo... [Puppet Name] (nod happily) / ¡Hola, amigo!"
Have students mirror your hand gestures: hand behind ear for "¿Cómo te llamas?" and hand on chest for "Me llamo...".

Guided Modeling with Puppet (10 Mins) Screen Slide 5
Bring out a friendly classroom puppet. Have the puppet act shy and hide behind your back. Ask the students: "Our friend is a bit shy. How can we make them feel safe and welcome?" (Call out responses: smile, say hola). Use the puppet to approach 3-4 individual students. The puppet asks "¿Cómo te llamas?" and scaffold students to reply "Me llamo [Name]". Have the whole class chant, "¡Hola, [Name]!".

"El Micrófono Viajero" Practice (10 Mins) Screen Slide 6
Students sit in a circle. Pass a soft ball or a toy microphone around. The student with the ball must say "Me llamo [Name]". Then, they look at their neighbor, pass the ball, and ask, "¿Cómo te llamas?".
SEL Connection Checklist: • Ensure eye contact before passing the ball. • Teach kids to clap softly or wave when a shy peer shares.
Push-In Scaffolding & Troubleshooting
For Shy or Non-Verbal Students:
Accept non-verbal physical touch (high-fiving the puppet, pointing to their name tag, or nodding). Allow classmate peer support to say "He is [Name]" while student smiles.
Physical Space Constraints:
If desks cannot be moved to form a circle, pass the ball/microphone down rows or table-by-table. Keep physical paths clear and structured.
