Play 20 min
The Carnival Stations Rotation
Divide the class into small groups (4-5 students per booth). Have students interact in pairs at each station. Use a fun noise maker (like a slide whistle or carnival bell) every 4-5 minutes to signal rotations to the next station.
Closing 10 min
Showcase & Sticker Celebration
Bring everyone back to the circle. Ask a few brave pairs to showcase a station routine for the entire class. Congratulate all "carnival participants" and reward them with a shiny sticker on the final page of their passport!
Scaffolding for Shy Students
• The Companion Buddy: Pair a shy student with a supportive, high-energy peer to go through the stations together.
• Whisper Greetings: Allow students to whisper the target phrases or point to visual signs if vocalization is intimidating first.
Cooperative Behavioral Rules
• Gentle Hands: Explicitly model gentle high-fives and knuckle-taps. Ensure students understand safety boundaries.
• Turn-Taking: Emphasize that BOTH partners must speak and do the action before moving on to stamp passports.
