Phase 1 The Grand Introduction (15 Minutes)
Activity: "The Whispering Circle"
Gather students in a circle, holding their plushies. Explain that stuffed animals are very shy in giant classrooms and only talk in tiny whispers directly into their companion's ear.
Teacher Script: "Good morning, Adventurers! Look around—our room is absolutely full of magical animal magic today. Put your ear close to your plushie's mouth. Can you hear them whispering? On my count, whisper your animal's secret name to them so they feel brave!"
Discussion Prompts:
- What makes your stuffed animal special? Is it their super soft fur, their button nose, or their secret superpower?
- Where does your stuffed animal sleep when you are dreaming?

Phase 2 Plushie Passports & Interviews (20 Minutes)
Step-by-Step Execution:
Distribute the Animal Interview Worksheet. Students should act as "investigative journalists" or "wildlife biologists" discovering a brand-new, magical creature.
Journalist Prompt:
Students gently interview their partner's animal. "Does Mr. Fluff like spinach? Can he fly?" Students write down answers in the worksheet.
Passport Design:
Next, hand out the Plushie Passport Cards. Students draw their companion's ID photo and list their special skill (e.g., "Supreme Cuddling").
Phase 3 The Plushie Playground Scenarios (15 Minutes)
Choose 2-3 role-play cards or present them to groups of 3-4 students:
Scenario A: The Lost Button
Your companion has lost their favorite gold button! The group of plushies must search the classroom and comfort them with friendly words.
Scenario B: Stormy Weather
A heavy thunderstorm is hitting. Your plushies are scared of lightning! How do your animals build a cozy fortress of cushions to protect everyone?
Scenario C: The New Toy
A very shy, tiny plastic dinosaur has joined the circle. He speaks a different language ("Rawr"). How do your plushies make him feel welcome?
Scenario D: Magic Potion
One of your animals ate a magic sparkle-grape and is now floating in the air. How do the other animals help guide them gently back to earth?
Supporting All Learners
For Emerging Writers:
Allow students to dictate their plushie's interview answers directly to you or use single adjectives instead of full sentences.
For Advanced Writers:
Encourage writing a 3-sentence "Legend of the Plushie" story on the back of the worksheet explaining how they got their powers.
Social-Emotional Support:
If a student feels too anxious to role-play, let them place their plushie in the group circle while they sit and witness as an "Official Ranger".
