Begin by asking students if they have heard of the Nutcracker Ballet.
Briefly explain what a ballet is: "A story told through dance and music without talking."
Show the cover of the Nutcracker storybook and discuss the main characters: Clara, the Nutcracker, and the Mouse King.

Storytelling & Listening Session
Read a simplified version of the story (The Christmas party, the gift, the battle, and the Land of Sweets).
Pause to play short clips: "March" for the party, the loud brass for the Battle, and "Sugar Plum Fairy" for the magical kingdom.
