Preparation

• Gather all necessary physical materials: construction paper, child-safe scissors, glue sticks or liquid glue, and crayons or markers.

Introduction & Hook

• Begin by asking students: "Who here loves holidays? What are some of your favorite things about the holidays?"
• Introduce the project: "Today, we're going to become holiday tree decorators! We'll make our own beautiful trees with lots of fun decorations."
• Show the first few slides to introduce different types of decorations.

• Continue with the Slide Deck, pointing out various decorations like ornaments, lights, and stars.
• Ask students what shapes they see in the decorations and what colors they might use.
• Check for understanding by asking students to identify shapes (circles, stars) on the screen.

Hands-On Decorating

• Distribute materials for the Activity sheet.
• Explain the activity: "We are going to cut out different shapes from our construction paper to make ornaments, stars, and lights for our tree. Then we will glue them on!"
• Guide students through cutting out simple shapes (circles, squares, triangles) from construction paper. Provide assistance as needed.
• Encourage creativity in choosing colors and placing their decorations.

• Give a 2-minute warning before finishing.
• Have students help collect scrap paper and close glue sticks.

Take your green paper and cut out a BIG TRIANGLE shape. This is your tree!

Cut out small shapes like circles, squares, and triangles.

Cut out small strips of paper or tiny dots. Use many different colors to make it glow!

Don't forget the star!
Cut out a YELLOW STAR for the very top of your tree.
