Instructional Flow
1
Introduction
10 mins
- Welcome the class and set the mood for "Fun Friday Art."
- Explain that markers aren't just for writing—they are powerful tools for color and texture.
- Discuss how art allows us to show our feelings and unique ideas to the world.
- Pro-Tip: Briefly demonstrate a few techniques (stippling, hatching, or blending colors while wet).
2
Active Art Activity
40 mins
- Hand out materials. Remind students to put on their smocks first!
- Let students start their own unique masterpieces. Some may want to sketch in light pencil first, while others dive straight in.
- Circulate the room. Offer specific praise (e.g., "I love how you used bright yellow there!").
- If a student feels "stuck," bring over the Art Inspiration Cards and let them draw one to spark a new idea.
3
Gallery Walk & Closure
10 mins
- Hold a brief sharing session. Ask: "What was the most fun part of using markers today?"
- Students can describe one choice they made (color, subject, or pattern).
- Discuss the importance of cleaning up and capping markers tightly to keep them "juicy" for next time.
