Mission Objective
Students will actively listen, orally repeat information accurately, and write down messages to practice listening, speaking, and writing skills essential for the ELPAC test, improving their comprehension and expression.
Mission Prep
• Review the Whisper Mission Slides and Whisper Protocol Instructions .
• Print copies of the Mission Evaluation Rubric for each group.
• Arrange the classroom so students can easily form small groups or a line for the 'whisper' relay.
• Prepare a list of 5-7 short, clear sentences appropriate for ELPAC Levels 3-4.
Operational Procedure
Phase 1: Deployment (Intro)

Display the title slide from the slide deck.
Explain that today's mission is a fun game to practice ELPAC skills: listening, speaking, and writing.
Briefly introduce the "Whisper Challenge" concept: passing a message down a line and writing the final result.
Highlight the importance of clear speaking and attentive listening.
Phase 2: Protocol Briefing (Modeling)

Go through rules using the slide deck and activity instructions.
Model one round with volunteers: Teacher whispers to Student A, A to B, etc. The last student writes it down.
Emphasize quiet whispering, clear speaking, and attentive listening. Show the Rubric.
Phase 3: The Challenge (Active Play)
15 MIN
Divide students into small groups (5-7 per group).
Provide each group with a starting sentence. Whisper to the first student.
Circulate, observing and guiding. Encourage focus and total silence from non-whisperers.
After each round, the final student writes the message. Compare to the original.
Use the rubric to provide brief feedback. Play 3-4 rounds.
Phase 4: Debrief (Reflection)

Discuss challenges: "What made it hard to hear?" "What helped you speak clearly?"
Connect to ELPAC: "Why is listening and speaking clearly important for the test?"
End with a positive message about their efforts and communication growth.
